Dr. M Joshi

Professor and HOD of TB and Chest Department at various Medical Colleges, Dr. M Joshi’s remarkable career of four decades has been primarily associated with dissemination of medical education. Based in Trivandrum, Dr. M Joshi’s in-depth knowledge of subject, enthusiasm and strong communication skills keep up with the requisite qualities of an effective medical educator.

An insight into the educational qualifications highlights the fact that Dr. M Joshi has completed his MBBS from Kerala University, MD from Banaras Hindu University and MSc from McMaster University, Canada.

Dr. M Joshi is a former Professor and HOD of Pulmonology at Govt. Medical College, Trivandrum. Moreover, he is the Founder Member of Academy of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine, Association of Respiratory Physicians and INDIACLEN.

He currently plays several roles on the academic front. He is a member of the Post graduate Studies Committee, University of Kerala involved in quality enhancement of academic aspects of medical education in post graduate and research programmes. He is also the Associate Director of Clinical Epidemiology Resource and Training Center (CERTC) at Medical College, Trivandrum which primarily trains clinicians in research methods to obtain improvement in health care.

An examiner to post graduate examinations and a guide to students in their thesis preparation, Dr. M Joshi smoothly executes some very significant and challenging responsibilities.

He has authored and co-authored several journal publications and contributed to text books. He has presented various papers in international and national conferences, some of them being conferred with the ‘Best Paper Award’. He has an exceptional contribution in fostering professional excellence through lectures delivered in CME programmes, the number having reached a tally of 263.

Apart from this, Dr. M Joshi is a faculty member at KIMS Hospital, Trivandrum and simultaneously runs an Allergy and Asthma Clinic in the city. Diseases such as Asthma and Tuberculosis top his list of special interests in Pulmonology.
